To maintain our standards and ensure a smooth and efficient submission process, we ask that all authors carefully follow the submission guidelines below.
The World Journal of Case Reports accepts the following types of manuscripts:
- Clinical Case Reports: Unique or rare clinical cases, including diagnostic challenges, novel treatments, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Case Series: Multiple related cases that provide new insights or contribute to the understanding of a medical condition.
- Letters to the Editor: Brief communications regarding previously published case reports or relevant clinical discussions.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews on specific medical conditions, therapies, or diagnostic strategies.
Manuscript Formatting:
- Manuscripts should be typed in Arial, font size 12, and double-spaced.
- Please number all pages, including the title page, abstract, body, and references.
- The manuscript should be structured as follows:
- Title Page: Title, authors' names, affiliations, corresponding author details.
- Abstract: A structured abstract (150–250 words) summarizing the key points.
- Keywords: 3-6 relevant keywords for indexing purposes.
- Introduction: A brief background and objectives of the case report.
- Case Report: A detailed description of the case, including clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome.
- Discussion: Interpretation of the case in the context of existing literature.
- Conclusion: Key takeaways and implications for clinical practice.
- References: Use the Vancouver style for citations. All references must be cited in the text.
Figures and Tables:
- All figures and tables should be placed at the end of the manuscript.
- Each figure/table must be numbered sequentially and accompanied by a clear legend.
- Figures should be submitted in high-resolution formats (e.g., .jpg, .png, .tiff).
Conflict of Interest:
- Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest in the manuscript.
- This should be included in the final section of the manuscript.
Ethical Considerations:
- Ethical approval must be obtained from a recognized ethical review board or institution for all case reports involving human participants.
- Informed consent from patients (or legal guardians) is mandatory and should be stated in the manuscript.
Plagiarism Check:
- All manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that do not adhere to ethical standards, including instances of plagiarism or duplicate publication, will be rejected.
- Online Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system.
- Cover Letter: A brief cover letter should accompany your manuscript, indicating the significance of your case and why it is suitable for publication in WJCR.
- Submission Confirmation: Once your manuscript is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with a unique submission ID for tracking.
- All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
- The review process typically takes 3-4 weeks.
- Authors will be notified of the outcome of the review and any required revisions.
By submitting your manuscript, you affirm that:
- The work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- All authors have contributed significantly to the work.
- All co-authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
- You comply with the journal’s open-access policy and grant permission for your article to be freely accessed by the global scientific community.

- Upon publication, the article will be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
- Authors retain copyright of their work but grant the journal permission to publish, distribute, and make it available under open access.

- Revised manuscripts should be submitted within 30 days of receiving reviewer comments.
- If authors fail to submit revisions within the stated time, the manuscript may be withdrawn.
